The Body: Good Fats

HEALTHY FAT LOSS

Firstly, before we move into the purpose of fat, I would like to say this, you have fat, and you are not fat. Your words are powerful and you have been given the free will to create your own reality by the words you speak.

All of us want to lose body fat and look great, but nobody ever considers why they gained fat in the first place. Nobody ever considers the emotional, psychological, and sociological triggers of their unhealthy weight gain.

In most cases, people are so focused on losing weight that they neglect dealing with those deep-rooted causes of their weight gain.

All of us do what we do for different reasons, but at the core of it, we find family. Once you start to question yourself about why you want to lose weight, and why you want to feel great, then you can come to see what drives you.

If your reason for improving your health is not based on something solid you will give up or fall back into the comfort zone. Change will require discipline, strength, and sheer will to keep going despite the setbacks that will come to test you.

Throughout this platform, I’ve shared a message of hope, strength, and sacrificial love for others. Through God’s wisdom I can provide you with the tools you need to make a positive change towards your health and the health of your family. You hold the key to transformation.

Jesus asked the lame man what he wanted most for a good reason. It’s time to get up and walk. You need to have a desire for a healthy change.

In the previous post we touched on the nature of the world and our human desire to seek out the milk and honey in life. Today I want to help you understand the energy density of fat.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

God says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. They have rejected the law.” – Hosea 4:6

Today I would like to go over the types of fatty acids and the benefits of each so you can have a deeper understand how to manage your health.

Fatty acids form a vital part of our anatomy. These cells are used to store calories, toxins, and produce hunger-regulating hormones. Body fat protects vital organs from impact.

When we balance our intake of healthy fats, we look vibrant, feel good, and perform at our best. However, not all fats are good for us, and while some reduce inflammation, others are highly inflammatory. Some fats lower cholesterol, while others increase “Bad” LDL cholesterol.

Some just make us look obese and unhappy.

TYPES OF FATS

TRANS FATS (FRANKENSTEIN)

This “Man-Made” concoction is possibly one of the worst thing you can do for your health. Hydrogenated fats, also called trans fats, are found in processed goods and deep-fried food. They clog arteries, causing high blood pressure, and increasing the risk for heart disease (CVD).

OMEGA 3 (FISH OIL)

Omega 3 is a brain-boosting fatty acid found in fresh fish like Salmon. Omega 3 is shown to reduce inflammation in the body and improve your quality of sleep. It is also prescribed in high doses for individuals who live with depression.

SATURATED FATS (ANIMAL)

It has been shown that active individuals who consume animal fats improve life expectancy. Cholesterol is used by the body to produce testosterone, the anabolic sex hormone responsible for libido, mood, muscle development, and fat-burning.

UNSATURATED FATS (PLANT)

Plant fats improve our heart health by reducing cholesterol, but large doses have been shown to lower testosterone. Due to the calorie density of plant fats, we can easily overconsume them if we don’t keep an eye on our portion size.

Limit these fats to a thumb-sized serving. Use oils and nuts for salad dressings, for cooking, and to add some texture to food.

MAKE IT WORK

In the Bible God tells Moses, “All the fat is the Lord’s. Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of the goat.Leviticus 3:16

God always has a good and pleasing reason for everything He does and while He does not eat meat or drink the blood of animals, God does have a good purpose for everything He says. Trusting Him is what worship is all about.

If we logically think about it, then we see why the removal of excess fat, the visible fat, is a good thing. Fat is high in calories (9 cal/gram) and we get more than enough fat from the intramuscular fats in meat. Removing the fat from your meat (chicken skins included) will have a big impact on your caloric intake.

But what about the other fats I’ve mentioned? Omega 3, trans, and plants? Well, what do you think you should be doing? Most of the time we already know what we ought to be doing, we just need to do it. Eating less packaged baked goods will reduce your calorie intake and help you lose the belly fat. It’s as simple as that.

Omega 3 is a great supplement you can add to your fridge if you don’t eat fatty fish at least twice a week. It has a plethora of health benefits, and a good dose is 5g per day.

One last thing, I’ve been asked about my opinion on pork. The Word of God says:

“The pig, though it has a split hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat.”Leviticus 11

I know God has a purpose with what He says, and so I did some of my own research to find out. Did you know pork contains 3 times more intramuscular fat than other meats like poultry?

The digestive system of a pig also works slightly different to that of a cow. Food passes through their digestive track much faster. What’s more, pigs will eat anything, including their own feces.

Fat cells are used to store toxins and if the habitat where the pigs are kept is not hygienic, the chance of food contamination is high.

It looks as though pigs were designed as the cleaners of the earth, and not so much for consumption. So, with this knowledge, the choice is yours. Will you die from the bacon? Probably not, but too much can be harmful.

My Building/Bulking Diet:

Breakfast: 4x Eggs on 2 Slices of Low GI Toast + Baby Spinach + Hot Sauce, 4x Coffee/Herbal Tea

Lunch: Leftovers or Big Grilled Chicken Salad with Avocado + Feta, Redbull Light gives wings

Dinner: Lean Meat with Baked/Mashed Potato + Vegetables/Salad, Red Wine, Family Vibes

Snacks: Variety of Fruits, Ostrich Biltong, Spring Water, Frozen Yogurt, Dark Chocolate, and Soup

Don’t snack on nuts: Use them to add texture to salads. Oils are used to anoint and cook food.

Supplements: Omega 3 Oil, Vitamin D, Protein Powder, Creatine HCL, Gentle Iron, and CBD Oil

The purpose of this nutrition plan is to give you an example of what a balanced diet looks like with the addition of supplements that aid with the stressors of modern-day life. Eat the cake.

In short, don’t throw away the egg yolk, don’t avoid full cream milk, and don’t be afraid to eat meat. Remove all visible fat, and eat until your satisfied and 80% full.

Stay away from deep-fried, oily foods. Fat is a great source of energy, but if we’re not moving as much, then we really don’t need as much.

Start the day with a solid breakfast, and then limit fats at night when you’re not as active. Ketogenic diets work, but diets are not the solution for a depressed, overworked man or woman who has lost faith in themselves.
